Another job in Italy

This entrance to my friends property had been erected rather quickly. Gazy the owner wanted it rebuilt. You can see what a difference the two of us made.

This is the Trulli where I was staying last month. It ha d a lovely wood burning stove which was just as well because while I was there Italy had its worst winter for 26 years! Sometimes we just had to sit beside the fire drinking local red wine, eating olives and eating home made bread cooked in an ouside oven.

I have just come home from working in Puglia in the South of Italy. This region is famous for dry stone houses called Trulli.More about this World heritage area over the next few entries.

Close to my home town , my daughter took this photo of a standing stone situated at the edge of a field which has three layers of coping. The next entries show wall s built in Australia.

Walls in Iceland 3

This rather unusual wall was built recently in Iceland with alternate layers of turf and rock. Surprisingly the top layer is turf. This system was also used in Scotland in the past but is seldom seen nowadays. The entry on 13th Feb. is a wall in Scotland with three layers of coping stones. After that I am posting some walls seen in Australia.

This most unusual construction was built by an amateur lady in Iceland. It is really creative, I have seen nothing like it before.
